Mål og innhold
The goal of the course is for the students to use the toolbox they have acquired through the bachelor's program by working on a research project. This project will resemble the writing of a research manuscript, presenting a self-contained discussion that analyses an AI question/problem/proposal and examines possible answers/solutions/alternatives.
The course will provide a structure the students can follow to carry out their research project. The Department of Information Science and Media Studies and the Department of Informatics will contribute with a list of relevant questions/problems/proposals.

Arbeids- og undervisningsformer
The course consists of at least four meetings. The four main ones are as follows:
- In the first (mandatory), the coordinator presents the course's plan, the timeline and the three different ways a student can get a topic for their research project (a report on one of the proposed topics/papers; a report on a paper chosen independently; a report on a project connected with their workplace).
- In the second meeting (optional), the coordinator gives an example of an academic presentation.
- In the third (mandatory, potentially divided into several days), each student provides a short presentation of their research topic.
- In the fourth (mandatory, potentially divided into several days), each student presents their research project.
During the semester, each student will have a mentor, who will guide them through the writing of their project.
Obligatorisk undervisningsaktivitet
- Attending the mandatory group meetings.
- Individual guidance (a minimum of one 30mins session).
- A 'short' presentation on the project's topic. This includes opposition.
- A 'long' presentation reporting the contents of the final report. This includes opposition.
The compulsory requirements are only valid through the semester.
Vurderingsformer
An academic report on their research project.
The report receives two grades on a 0-100 scale: one from the mentor and another from the course coordinator. The final grade for the report is obtained by combining these two, giving more weight to the grade of the mentor. The specific weight of each grade will be indicated during the course's first mandatory session.
The final grade in letters is determined by the final grade on the 0-100 scale and the following threshold:
- At least 90pts: A
- At least 80pts but below 90: B
- At least 65pts but below 80: C
- At least 55pts but below 65: D
- At least 50pts but below 55: E
