Short info

PhD Candidate in the ECOBUDGETS project. My research examines climate budgets as governance tools in Nordic cities and the implications climate budgeting has for transformative change. Together with project partners, we aim to develop actionable climate budgets for a more sustainable development.
Research

My research focuses on urban climate governance and transformative change. Cities worldwide have become central actors in responding to climate change, yet most are still falling short of their ambitious targets. The increasingly diverse urban dimensions of climate change make managing climate action more complex. How can we design governance tools and processes that enable rapid, transformative change?

I am conducting a qualitative case study of climate budgeting in Nordic cities, combined with co-creation workshops with our local partners, the City of Bergen and Vestland County Council. My PhD-project runs from 2025-2029.

Before starting my PhD, I worked at the Climate Agency in the City of Bergen (2021–2025), focusing on consumption-based emissions and circularity initiatives, as well as the institutionalization of climate action within the city administration.

Keywords: urban climate governance, climate change mitigation and adaptation, transformative change, urban planning, public policy, political geography, consumption, circular economy

ECOBUDGETS
Actionable budgets for sustainable climate and nature (ECOBUDGETS) helps municipalities and regional authorities make more sustainable decisions, by integrating budgets for emissions reductions and land use change into financial and other forms of administrative and political decision-making.
