About the research group

This research forum is an academic arena for researchers in the academic study of religion. It functions as hub for all researchers who are interested in comparative, study of religions-based discussions globally, cross-culturally, contemporary, historical and trans-historically. We focus on the development and qualification of study of religions research, theories, methods, ongoing empirical analyses and research projects. The scope is broad and pluralistic and encompasses e.g. sociological, anthropological, historical, media- or materiality-oriented approaches and all kinds of research in the academic, non-confessional study of religion. The objectives of RF are

• To be an academic hub for researchers who work in the study of religions and with study of religions approaches at UiB, in Bergen, nationally and internationally

• Support fruitful and constructive research discussions and develop and qualify research projects and ongoing research

•  Support research collaboration and the development of research projects

•  Support and develop the work of PhD-students and postdocs

•  Discuss new study of religions research literature

•  Increase the visibility of study of religions research at UiB nationally and internationally, and in the public arena
