Centre for Elderly and Nursing Home Medicine (SEFAS)
In 2012, SEFAS, the country's first Centre for Elderly and Nursing Home Medicine, was established by UiB in collaboration with the GC Rieber Foundations. SEFAS focuses on older adults and people with complex conditions, including neurological diseases such as dementia and Parkinson’s disease. We aim to contribute to better health and end-of-life care for older adults living at home or in institutions by promoting research-based knowledge about age-related diseases, care services, and the living situation for all people involved.
About the research centre
Since the autumn of 2014, SEFAS has received basic funding from the National Budget, and receives project support from several key partners, including the G.C. Rieber Foundations, the Western Norway Regional Health Authority (Helse Vest), the Research Council of Norway (RCN), Eureka Eurostars, the European Research Council (ERC), the Trond Mohn Research Foundation (TMF) and the University of Bergen (UiB).The centre has local, national and international partners.
The Head of the Centre is Professor Bettina S. Husebø.
