About the research group

The overall goal of the research group is to be a driving force in the development of low-carbon, green, and sustainable solutions within renewable energy and chemical manufacturing, thereby addressing UN Sustainable Development Goals such as “Affordable and Clean Energy” (7) and “Responsible Consumption and Production” (12). To this end, the group develops strategies and processes for production of low-carbon energy carriers, fuels, materials, and renewable bulk and fine chemicals. Whereas these processes are often discovered and enabled by the group’s expertise in tailor-making organometallic and metal-organic catalysts and materials, they are subsequently developed into efficient and practically useful processes via another group specialty: statistically based experimental design. Process discovery and optimization are conducted in high-throughput, parallel experiments and in serial experiments using everything from simple, millilitres-scale reactors to advanced autoclaves, litres-scale reactors, and electrochemical reactors. The research group is equipped with relevant analytical techniques for molecular and materials structure elucidation and characterization, including single crystal X-ray diffraction, high-field NMR, thermal analysis, gas adsorption and separation, and electrochemical techniques.
