The Norwegian Citizen Panel

The Norwegian Citizen Panel (Norsk medborgerpanel) is a research-driven survey of opinions and attitudes of people living in Norway. The panel is run and coordinated by the national research infrastructure KODEM. The Citizen Panel is used exclusively for research purposes. Participants are randomly drawn from the inhabitants of Norway, and are invited about three times a year to express their opinions on issues related to Norwegian society and politics.

In short

The Norwegian Citizen Panel has been active since 2013, with around 12,000 participants, randomly selected from the National Population Register. It is Norway’s first research panel that operates entirely online.

About the panel

The Norwegian Citizen Panel is a research-purpose internet panel with over 10,000 active participants. It is based on a probability sample of the general Norwegian population above the age of 18 drawn from the Norwegian National Registry. Panel members complete an online questionnaire about three times per year of 15 minutes each.

The Norwegian Citizen Panel is a part of the national research infrastructure "Coordinated Online Panels for research on democracy and governance (KODEM)", a national initiative that brings together leading research institutions to better understand how democracy works in everyday life.
