The research group analyzes political processes and outcomes by focusing on the role of institutions, policies, and actors.
About the research group
Based on the fundamental equation of politics that political outcomes can be explained by the interaction between actors and their wider environment, the research group analyzes issues related to welfare, migration, globalization, transnationalism, multilevel governance, territorial politics, interest groups, policy shaping, bureaucracies, party politics, elections, climate and environmental politics, terrorism, nationalism, political economy, democratization, indigenous rights. This research is applied to various parts of the world, ranging from Latin America to the Arctic, the European Union, and of course Norway.
Until summer 2025, the IPA group was called CHAD (Challenges to Advanced Democracies). The CHAD group has been discontinued and replaced by the IPA group.
