Forskningsgruppe for integrert geo-bio-samfunnsdynamikk
The proposed Center for integrated Earth–Society Dynamics (ESD) is an ambitious, long-term initiative of foundational and curiosity- driven research to fundamentally advance the science of human-environment interaction. It is founded on human and collection-based resources at the University Museum of Bergen with valuable contributions from other UiB departments.
Om forskergruppen
We have established a novel transdisciplinary framework that tightly integrates Earth system science with sociocultural research, breaking down disciplinary boundaries. Leveraging the University Museum of Bergen’s (UM) unique environmental and cultural archives and broad cross-disciplinary expertise, we aim to understand how today’s society has been built upon a foundation shaped over geologic time, to decode the interactive mechanisms behind natural and societal changes over the past ~15,000 years, and to use this insights to build actionable scenarios for the future.
