Faculty of Medicine
Studies
With us, you build a solid academic foundation through studies closely linked to research and clinical practice. You learn in modern facilities, become part of an engaged student community, and stay close to the hospitals of Western Norway.
Research
Our research spans from basic medicine to clinical medicine, public health, and global health, with clear links between basic research, patient-related research, and societal perspectives. The Faculty stands out particularly in women's health, neurodegenerative diseases, priority-setting and ethics in health services, and pioneering work in biomaterials and geriatric medicine.
PhD programme
Do you hold a master's degree and want to go deeper in your field? As a PhD candidate, you work independently in an active research environment, in collaboration with other researchers and through international networks. A PhD opens career opportunities in academia and beyond.

Innovation
The research we produce must be translated into solutions and ideas that benefit as many people as possible — from new treatments to health technology to better priorities and sustainable health services.
Core facilities
The core facilities at the Faculty of Medicine are collections of scientific equipment and highly qualified technical staff that are generally available to research communities both within and outside UiB.
